There’s no right or wrong way to celebrate Valentine’s Day. What works for one couple might seem completely bizarre to another.
It’s also totally valid to completely opt-out of Valentine’s Day celebrations altogether. No judgement.
However, if you’re looking for some inspiration on how you and your partner might want to mark the occasion, here’s some options that we’re currently considering.
This year, Valentine’s Day falls on a Friday night. Restaurants are all going to be busy, and it’s not hugely imaginative to pay a lot of money for a set menu.
Even if you’re not the world’s greatest cook, making the effort to prepare a special meal for you and your beau is a classy move. It could also be something that would be fun to do together.
A couples’ massage is a great way to inject a bit of romance into the day. Look for massage or spa treatments that encourage you to get a bit interactive with each other. Rasul or mud-spa therapy involves smearing each other with good-smelling stuff. Getting a bit hands-on is a great way to get a bit sexy.
Hire a limo for a couple of hours, grab a bottle of champagne, and get driven around for a couple of hours while you live it up in the back seat.
Going to the theatre is a great thing to do on Valentine’s Day. It’s something a bit special, something you might normally do together. There can be champagne to start and champagne at the interval. You get to be dressed up and glamorous, and it lets you talk about something other than what happened at work or whose turn it is to clean the bathroom.
Why not use Valentine’s Day as an opportunity to explore your sexual fantasies? Talk about what turns each of you on, figure out the logistics of how you could explore some of those fantasies together. Maybe you need to buy some toys, find some role-play fetish-wear, or hire a sex-worker to help make it happen.
What about a dance class? It could be Salsa or Argentine Tango – something that gets you moving together, figuring it out together. It doesn’t matter if you’re rubbish at it, it’s all about having fun with each other and giving it a go.
Rather than going out for dinner, why not book a hotel room and order room-service? Lounging around in fluffy bathrobes, drinking glasses of wine in a massive bathtub, having a little luxurious mini-break without leaving your city. It’s a great way to connect with each other by removing yourselves from the distractions of day-to-day life.
