Brownton Abbey – a radically inclusive online conversation that everyone can be part of
An evolving, international performance collective, centring and celebrating disabled, queer people of colour, Brownton Abbey’s kaleidoscopic events investigate and reclaim traditions of ritual and spirituality from within these marginalised, intersectional communities.
Renowned for Afro-futurist performance parties, the collective has now adapted their pioneering work for a digital landscape.
From June 18 – 20, Battersea Arts Centre hosts Brownton Abbey: Talk Show – a frank and open conversation with artists and collaborators from the Brownton Abbey universe.
Everyone is invited to join their Afro-Futurist Space-Church for exclusive digital screenings premiering new commissions together with the Talk Show element between each work.
The Talk show features conversations between performers and Brownton Abbey creator, Tarik Elmoutawakil.
The programme will be broadcast at 7.30pm on Friday, 18 June, or stream the performance at your own convenience until midnight on Sunday 20 June.
Accompanying Tarik is a stellar lineup of regular Brownton Abbey contributors. These include B2B, Malik Nashad Sharpe, Lasana Shabazz and Sony Nwachukwu.
