Maybe because my sex education classes at school were woefully inadequate, or maybe I’m just a bit obsessed with jacking off, but I’ve always got time to talk about masturbation.
In the name of investigative journalism, I’ve done a bit of analysis to try and identify the most-searched questions that gay guys have about masturbation. I’m not a doctor, but I do masturbate a lot, so I feel qualified enough to try and provide some answers.
Can frequent masturbation help prevent prostate cancer?
Intuitively, it makes sense that there’s probably some sort of connection between regular sexual activity and keeping your prostate healthy.
Adding weight to this assumption is a major study that was published in 2016. The study had been tracking around 32,000 men over a period of 18 years. One of the things that they were taking note of was how often they ejaculated. They were counting ejaculations by any means – intercourse, masturbation, or wet dreams.
The results of the study indicated a correlation between frequent ejaculation and a healthy prostate. The guys that were ejaculating at least 21 times a month had around a 20% lower incidence of prostate cancer than the guys who were ejaculating less than seven times a month.
So, the short answer is that yes – frequent masturbation could potentially help prevent prostate cancer. At the very least, it’s not doing any harm.
Is it unhealthy to jack off every day?
While it seems pretty clear that regular masturbation is a good thing, is it possible to have too much of a good thing? How much masturbating is too much masturbating?
There’s no hard and fast rule about this. Your body will generally let you know when it needs to take a break. When I was a hormone-fuelled teenager, I needed to rub one out about five times a day. These days, jacking off once or twice a day is about my limit.
The scenario in which you might start to think that you’re going too hard at it is when it starts to negatively impact other areas of your life. It’s probably not helpful to talk in terms of sex addiction, but if you’re prioritising your bate sessions over everything else, that might start to become a problem.
If you’re having issues with your job, with your relationships, or with other aspects of your life, maybe take a step back and make sure that you’re not using masturbation as some sort of coping mechanism or escape from reality. Does thick semen equate to healthy semen?
It’s fairly common for everyone’s cum to look a bit different. Some guys shoot a lot, some guys not so much. Some guys have thicker cum than other guys. You’ll probably also notice that your cum isn’t always the same – it might look a bit different from one day to the next.
Generally, that’s totally cool and nothing to worry about.
However, the main indicator that you might have a problem that could need some medical attention is if your cum is really thick.
But how thick is too thick? If you notice that your cum is thicker than normal and maybe it comes out in thick strands instead of spurts or drops, then it might be something you want to see a doctor about. You don’t want your cum to be chunky.
If you’ve got thick semen, it’s not necessarily something major. Some of the reasons why your cum might seem a bit thick could be because you haven’t ejaculated for a while, or you’re dehydrated.
However, thick semen could be an indicator that you’ve got an infection, or that you’ve got a problem with your prostate.
If your cum is looking weird, talk to a doctor.
How Can I Make My Cum Taste Better?
No matter how much pineapple juice you drink, your cum is generally going to have a fairly neutral or alkaline kind of taste.
The reason that it doesn’t taste of much is because of the way our bodies produce cum – your cum is a combination of different fluids produced by different parts of the body.
But if you’re noticing that the guys that you’re with are spitting and not swallowing, funky-tasting cum might be an indicator of some underlying factors that you should take a look at.
Better-tasting cum doesn’t really come from eating or avoiding specific foods, it’s about your overall health. Make sure you’ve got a balanced diet, that you’re getting regular exercise, drinking lots of water, minimising alcohol, and avoiding drugs and cigarettes.
How can I improve my edging technique?
Edging is one of the essential life skills that you should learn early and practice often – it’s up there with how to tie your shoelaces and making a decent cup of tea.
Edging is all about taking it to the brink but avoiding going beyond the point of no-return. You want to hit that pre-orgasmic zone without actually shooting your load. It’s all about making it last as long as possible – maximising your pleasure until you’re ready to unload.
