Jared Goldstein is Out On Stage
The latest original series from online streaming platform Dekkoo is Out On Stage. Hosted by Zach Noe Towers, the series brings together queer stand-up comedians to showcase humour from an LGBTQ perspective.
I caught up with Jared Goldstein – one of the comedians featured in the series – to talk about queer comedy.
How did you feel when you were invited to take part in the Out on Stage series?
Grateful and excited to be a part of this project with Zach and so many of my friends.
What does it mean to you to be in the first all queer stand up series ever?
It means the world.
How did you prepare for the taping?
I want to show people the best of myself but also my authentic self, so I treated this taping like any other show. Some of the material was old and some of it was new.
Were you pleased with how you delivered your routine?
I actually haven’t watched my set beyond a ninety second promotional clip. I had a great time at the taping, and for now that’s good enough for me.
What was it like being part of a show where everyone in the line-up was queer and delivering sets that focused on the queer experience?
I felt like I was in the right room. I felt validated. It was so fun to watch because the show not only highlights how varied our experiences as queer people can be, but also how varied our material and style as queer comedians can be.
What do you hope that people feel when they’re watching your routine as part of Out on Stage?
What are some of your goals and aspirations for the months ahead?
I want to finish my Invisalign and fix a broken crown.
