Sex Education returns to Netflix
Netflix can be a bit hit and miss when it comes to queer content, but of the absolute gems that it’s produced is Sex Education.
It’s a high school series that really gets to grips with teenage sexuality and sex.
Season 1 gave introduced us to Otis and his friends. Channelling his Sex Therapist mother (Gillian Anderson), inexperienced teen Otis (Asa Butterfield) decides to set up a Sex Therapy clinic at school for the students at his school. He’s motivated by bad girl Maeve (Emma Mackey) and best friend Eric (Ncuti Gatwa).
Shot in the town of Caerleon – on the outskirts of Newport in South Wales – one of the strengths of Sex Education was that it created an almost hybrid British/American world that maximised its global appeal.
The good news is that Season 2 has been confirmed and will be hitting our screens in 2020 – with the central cast all confirmed to reprise their roles.
It’s only going to be eight episodes, but filming is underway and is expected to have a release date in the first half of the year.
Netflix has been teasing us with clips of the cast in script read-throughs for Season 2.
