ManCrush: John Thomas
Does a man like John Thomas get your attention?
There’s a lot to admire about John Thomas. He’s filmed with a number of studios and is also creating super-hot content for his fan-subscription channels.
He’s also picking up awards for his work – at the 2022 Grabby Awards Europe he walked away with the JustFor.Fans Fan Favourite trophy.
We caught up with John for a behind-the-scenes look at his online life.
“At drama school, I learned that sex could be used in performance, as art…” explains John, talking about how his work in the adult entertainment industry is shaped by his dramatic training. “I think this helped me cross the bridge into the world of sex work and pornography.”
“Whether as a theatre director or porn actor, the human body is the centre of my fascination, and how we use it to communicate stories and feelings to other people. Also, how we train it to evolve and transform – whether as an athlete or a power bottom!”
“My training in theatre has given me a good awareness and understanding of my body. That’s great from a performance point of view, but also in being able to relax and control my muscles when taking the big cocks, fists and toys that get thrown at me.”
“When I’m editing my fan-subscription videos, I also think about the narrative arc of the scene, and how to build to the viewer’s climax. But I also try and include more of the normality of sex – the awkward moments, the laughter, the moments of catching your breath – to help normalise the ‘fantasy’ sex lives of porn actors.”
“I’ve had HIV for over ten years, and it’s something I’m very comfortably out about…” says John, when I ask about his advocacy work.
“When I started porn, I didn’t intentionally keep my status a secret from fans, but I also didn’t explicitly talk about it on social media. I then started to get more and more messages from fans asking if I was worried about contracting HIV from the bareback scenes I was filming, so I felt that it was important to be vocal about my status, as a way to raise awareness, educate and help fight stigma.”
“I think as long as sex and relationship education is inadequate in schools, young people will get their sex education from porn, and all porn makers – including fan-subscription content makers – need to be aware of that.”
“While I think porn should be about creating art, and selling a fantasy, being able to include messages about consent, pleasure, and the reality of intimacy is something that I think is important. It’s what I’ve been trying to do this past year with my own fan-subscription content.”
“I only came to rugby later in life – after I had started going to the gym…” says John, talking about his passion for sport. “For me, rugby is part of my fascination with the body. I have Dyspraxia – a neurological condition – and my coordination and balance was so bad in school that I hated sport and did my best to avoid it.”
“Through therapies and my drama training, I’ve been able to improve my physical abilities, which is something I’m really proud of. For me, playing rugby really feels like I’ve conquered some of the fears of my teenage years.”
“The other great thing about gay rugby is the social aspect. I think that its important for gay men in particular – and the LGBTQ community generally – to have social activities and groups that don’t revolve around dating and hooking up. A gay rugby team is a great way to make friends from a shared interest, rather than if you like the look of someone’s pics.”
“There is, of course, also a sexy fantasy element to rugby – grappling in the mud with other men – but that isn’t my primary reason for playing.”
“My Prince Albert is a 00g – 10mm diameter – which is pretty big…” confirms John, when I ask him about the piercing that features prominently in his content. “It’s the size I wanted when I decided to get a PA about five or six years ago, but it took a long time to stretch up to this size.”
“I don’t wear my PA all the time – obviously, I have to take it out for rugby. I also have a smaller ring – 7mm diameter – that I alternate with the bigger one. I think that it’s unlikely that I’ll go bigger, but who knows! I love having a PA – I think that it’s a definite declaration of being a pig. If you see a guy with a PA, you can kind of assume that the sex is going to be adventurous.”
“I mostly wear briefs, and it’s the cut of underwear I prefer most on other guys…” says John, when our conversation inevitably turns to underwear. “I think that briefs flatter all body types – adding curves to the butt, thighs and crotch, and reflecting the body’s natural anatomy.”
“I do also love thongs – they’re very sexy and very slutty. I usually wear a thong to the gym – under compression shorts or tights. This ensures that my bulge looks juicy, and that my butt looks pert. I do the same for rugby as well.”
