Singer/songwriter Leah Canali is making a pitch for your playlist with the release of her single Quicksand.

A version of this song was included on Canali’s 2021 EP “Light and Dark”, but this time around she’s leaning into the emotion with a full band and a stunning string arrangement by La-nai Gabriel.

Canali co-wrote the song with Kevin Wong.

“Quicksand is a song that comes deep from within trauma…” explains Canali. “It was a reaction to a time in my life where I gave so much of myself that I literally felt like I had lit myself on fire to keep someone else wam. That person got to walk away from the situation unscathed and I was left with all of the aftermath. I think everyone can relate to, at one point in their lives, being connected to a person or situation where they gave so much of themselves that they literally felt like they were drowning in quicksand trying to get out.”

The video that accompanies the release was filmed live at Loudmouse Studios in Toronto. The band includes Kevin Wong, Stacey Kay, Tafari Anthony, Chris Tsujiuchi, Leah Grandmont, Mike Meusel, and Nick Ferraro.
