If you’re thinking about meeting some new people, or looking to improve your health and fitness, then a queer sports club could be what you need. The LGBTQ sports clubs of London are getting together to present a Sports Fair to help showcase the options available.
The event will be held on 26 April.
What’s the objective of the LGBT+ Sports Fair?
The objective is to help people find out what’s available in the way of LGBT+ Sports groups in London and the South East, and have a fun time meeting up with other like-minded people. This time, we’re also reaching out in particular to women.
Is the Sports Fair just for sporty people?
The Fair is for everyone. You don’t need to be sporty, there are some less-conventional teams like dance, as well as outdoor activities.
Why does there need to be LGBT+ sports clubs?
LGBT + sports groups are a great way to enjoy your sport and meet other LGBT+ people.
How fit do I need to be to join a sports club?
It doesn’t matter if you’ve never played sport before – most groups have gentle introductions to the sport.
How many LGBT+ sports clubs are there in London?
There’s well over 100 different clubs. All sorts of sports are represented, from traditional ones such as running, swimming, hockey, and football, to dance, weight-lifting, and climbing.
How competitive does it get with LGBT+ sports clubs?
Most clubs have a serious element, and some people in them are very serious athletes who break records. Other people simply take part to keep fit or purely to have fun.
