What to watch: Ezra – a gay vampire on the loose.

New horror comedy series, Ezra, gives us the story of Ezra Grey – a gay vampire who escapes his home to enter the modern world.
Putting a vampiric spin on the classic coming out story, Ezra is played by Luke Hutchie.
After centuries of envying human life whilst living in the shadows, Ezra finally grows tired of the loneliness his vampiric roots bring him. A social outcast from his vampire tribe, and the black sheep in his family, Ezra turns to the human world in hope of a more fulfilling life. A life that may even, hopefully, include love. He enrols himself into a University for Human Psychology, an education fitting for Ezra’s interest in his food’s psyche. After a successful move into the human world, Ezra still has to deal with the burden of what to eat, or rather, who.
“We are so excited to create this show with OUTtv and hope to represent Canada, and the LGBTQIA+ community in a way that it has never been shown before…” said Luke Hutchie. “Although coming out is a part of the queer experience, there is so much more after, and this show explores the tribulations of self-discovery outside of one’s sexual identity. We hope this show inspires audiences to live their most authentic lives.”
The cast also includes Zoé de Grand’Maison, Chelsea Clark, Matthew Finlan, and Veronika Slowikowska, Danny Vo, Kara Duncan, and Daniella Dela Peña.
Ezra will premiere on OUTtv on 1 October
