Drag Race Spain - S4E4: The Recap

Drag Race Spain - easily one of the best variations of the global franchise - is back with Season 4.

The Mini Challenge

This week's mini-challenge was a quick-drag challenge with a sports theme for an aerobics workout.

The winners of the mini-challenge were tasked with selecting teams for the main challenge.

The Main Challenge

This week was School Prom. It's a version of the girl group challenge.

The queens were divided into three teams.

We saw the final performances on the runway. Megui killed it. Everyone else was fairly solid although it felt like Angelita and Khristo were struggling.

The Runway

The category this week Night of 1000 Ana Lockings (one of the judging panel known for her fashion).

This was fun and everyone delivered some cool interpretations of runway looks that Ana has worn on the show.

The judging

The winning team were Mariana, Vampira, and La Nina - that made sense and also gives good storyline options in the ongoing battle between Mariana and Angelita. La Nina was the overall winner of the week.

Safe were Megui, Chloe, and Coco.

Leaving us with a Bottom 3 of Kelly, Angelita, and Khristo.

Khristo was safe, giving us a lip-sync of Kelly versus Angelita.

The lip-sync

They've been teasing this golden ticket twist and it felt almost certain that this would be the week that it would be called into action - but no.

The track was Antagonista by Belen Aguilera - this week's guest judge.

This is a cute track but a bit one-level.

Both Kelly and Angelita did the track. I probably preferred Kelly's version because she gave it a bit more personality and went weird with it, whereas Angelita didn't feel particularly connected to the song.

However, it was Angelita who was safe - that made sense, she's giving good TV - ending Kelly home.

Episode 4, done!

Cast

Still in the running

  • Angelita La Perversa: It's been a roller-coaster so far for Angelita - highs and lows. She's not coming off as particularly likeable but she's giving good TV.
  • Chloe Vittu: Needs to step it up.
  • La Niña Delantro: She has clearly made a positive impression with the judges and finally seems to be finding some momentum in this competition.
  • Le Cocó: Consistently high placements - she's one to watch.
  • Mariana Stars: Probably the front-runner and my early pick to win. The lip-sync in Episode 3 demonstrated why is going to be tough to beat.
  • Megui Yeillow: From Pit Crew to drag queen - the journey will be interesting. So far, it's been an excellent start. I underestimated Megui.
  • Miss Khristo: Winning the first week is the way you want to start Season 4 but she's going to have to continue to deliver.
  • Vampirashian: A strong start but we're going to need to see more.

Eliminated

  • Kelly Passa: A strong performance in the acting challenge but it was the Girl Group challenge that tripped her up.
  • Dita Dubois: Giving us a different perspective on drag from the Canary Islands, Dita never really got motoring in this competition.
  • Porca Theclubkid: A shame to lose Porca so early, she seems like she's an entertaining performer and an engaging character.
  • Shani LaSanta: Disappointed that Shani has left the competition - she seems a really engaging queen with plenty to offer, but her looks let her down in this first episode, making her the Pork Chop of the season.
