Drag Race Spain - S4E10: The Recap
Are you up to speed?
Drag Race Spain - easily one of the best variations of the global franchise - has been smashing it with Season 4, and we've made it to the grand finale.
The final episode of a series follows a fairly familiar format. There's a lot of talking and reminiscing and crying to get through.
However, this is a two-part grand finale, with this episode taking us from a Final Four down to a Top Three.
The challenge
The meat of the episode was the solo performances of the Top 4.
In a new twist, the judges scored the solo performances - Eurovision style - awarding a 6, 8, 10, or 12 points to each performance. The eliminated queens also got to cast an audience vote.
At the end of the solo round, the queen with the lowest points was eliminated, leaving a Top 3 for a final lip-sync batter.
I really like this format! It brings some drama into the finale.
The queens got to prepare a solo lip-sync performance to any song of their choosing.
After the voting was counted, it was La Nina who scored the least votes and was eliminated from the competition.
The lip-sync
We then got a 3-way lip-sync. The track was Diva by Monica Naranjo.
Did that decide the winner? Maybe.
We've got a live final extravaganza still to come where the winner of the season will be crowned!
Episode 10, done!
Cast
Still in the running
- Chloe Vittu: She's got a lot of raw potential and the judges are rewarding that.
- Le Cocó: Consistently high placements - she could easily win this.
- Vampirashian: It's been a very clean run for Vampi. She doesn't have the biggest personality but she's a very accomplished drag queen and has emerged as a fan-favourite.
Eliminated queens
- La Niña Delantro: She made a positive impression with the judges from the get-go and has grown throughout the competition. It's been a great season for La Nina, making it all the way to Top 4.
- Mariana Stars: My early pick to win and she's been very strong throughout the competition. Her elimination on the Make-over Challenge was a bit of a shock - beaten in the lip-sync by Coco - but she's a lock for All Stars.
- Megui Yeillow: From Pit Crew to drag queen - this could have been a car-crash but she's been consistently strong. I underestimated Megui.
- Angelita La Perversa: It's been a roller-coaster of a season for Angelita - highs and lows. She didn't seem to be very likeable but she gave us good TV.
- Miss Khristo: Winning the first week is the way you want to start Season 4. She consistently smashed the runways but couldn't translate that excellence into every challenge.
- Kelly Passa: A strong performance in the acting challenge but it was the Girl Group challenge that tripped her up.
- Dita Dubois: Giving us a different perspective on drag from the Canary Islands, Dita never really got motoring in this competition.
- Porca Theclubkid: A shame to lose Porca so early, she seems like she's an entertaining performer and an engaging character.
- Shani LaSanta: Disappointed that Shani has left the competition - she seems a really engaging queen with plenty to offer, but her looks let her down in this first episode, making her the Pork Chop of the season.
