Drag Race UK: S6E10 - The Recap
Are you up to speed?
Drag Race UK has sometimes felt a bit hit or miss but this has been a really solid season with an engaging cast of queens.
The main challenge
In this final episode with the Top 4, we got a lot of the normal stuff that we've got to get through when there's not actually a lot happening. There's talking, there's crying, they're reflecting on the journey of the whole experience.
There was a Top 4 performance - singing and dancing and choreo, which all went smoothly.
The runway
The Top 4 also got to serve us some Finale Extravaganza on the runway.
The judging
We finally got down to the business-end of proceedings.
The Top 4 was reduced to a Top 2, with Marmalade and Rileasa not making the cut.
That left us with Kyran and La Voix with a lip-sync before the final decision was made.
The lip-sync
The track was Don't Stop Me Now by Queen.
You can kind of see the logic in choosing this track - it's camp, British, and iconic - but it really doesn't lend itself to a memorable drag lip-sync in a final episode.
Both Kyran and La Voix did a solid job. It was all a bit messy and a bit chaotic. La Voix went for comedy whereas Kyran felt a bit more connected to the track.
Ultimately, it was Kyran who was crowned the winner. It really could have gone either way, but Kyran is probably the more interesting choice - La Voix will continue to do what La Voix does.
Season 6, done!
The Cast
- Kyran Thrax: Kyran dominated this series from the beginning. A worthy winner.
- La Voix: Not the most likeable of characters but a seasoned performer who performed well in the challenges.
- Marmalade: Tall and skinny, Marmalade was surprisingly competent at everything. It's not the last that we've seen of Marmalade.
- Rileasa Slaves: There's a lovely warmth to Rileasa's personality - she presents really well on screen. This season has been a great season to really establish herself.
- Lill: An interesting point of view, Lill is an entertaining queen with plenty to offer. The Roast was her undoing, beaten in the lip-sync by Rileasa.
- Charra Tea: Bubbly energy and upbeat personality - she gives good TV. The make-over challenge was her undoing, beaten in the lip-sync by Rileasa.
- Actavia: Actavia is a fantastic performer and I love her energy. She always threw everything she had at whatever she tackled. Eliminated eventually by Lill.
- Chanel O’Connor: She smashed the sewing challenge and did her best to claim the villain edit. Ultimately, the performance side of things was her downfall.
- Kiki Snatch: A natural performer, she's most at home on stage. It feels like she's still figuring out who her persona is and how to navigate the off-stage moments, but she'll get there - an obvious contender for All Stars.
- Zahirah Zapanta: Disappointed to lose Zahirah so early in the competition - love her upbeat energy and she gives good TV, however she never really seemed to make an impression with the judges. Would love to see more from Zahirah.
- Dita Garbo: An experienced queen making her return to drag, but it may be a short-lived career revival - never really getting started in this competition.
- Saki Yew: The Pork Chop of the season by default, Saki eliminated herself with an injury sustained from a fall in the shower. Not the storyline that she would have been hoping for but hopefully we'll see her triumphantly return next season.
