Greek PM follows Trump lead on gender
Kyriakos Mitsotakis echoes the executive order of the US administration.
In a recent discussion, the Greek Prime Minister - Kyriakos Mitsotakis - declared that “there are two genders, male and female.”
Mitsotakis went on to emphasise that this is both his personal opinion and the scientific reality - although the consensus among scientists is that gender is complex and attempts to use a binary classification are not evidence-based.

The Prime Minister's statement was made during a recent discussion with the president of the Jacques Delors Institute and former Prime Minister of Italy, Enrico Letta, at an event of the Hellenic-American Chamber of Commerce. The event was streamed live on YouTube.
Referring to the rise of the far right and the debate over the woke agenda, the Prime Minister noted:
"The extreme positions of the woke current in the US have resulted in the pendulum moving in the opposite direction. However, these extreme positions are mainly a US phenomenon, particularly in liberal universities, and have not appeared in Europe to such an extent as to provoke a corresponding reaction."
Mitsotakis emphasised that Greece has managed to limit fringe parties:
“We have proven that there can be a strong centre-right alliance that pushes extreme parties to the margins, where they belong. Today, Greece is one of the few politically stable countries in Europe, and this stability allows us to quickly implement our program.”
