What's on in London? Jonny Woo: Suburbia
Paying homage to life before cabaret stardom.
Jonny Woo has long been one of the giants of London's queer nightlife. His latest show, Suburbia, pays homage to his life before finding cabaret stardom.
Charting his journey from growing up in Medway, to the opportunities of New York, to finding community in London, the show blends drag and storytelling for an intimate insight into the forces that have shaped one of the city's most resilient queer performers.
"This is a poetic theatre and cabaret show which goes a little deeper into exploring what made me the man and the performer I am today..." explains Jonny Woo. "It’s a show which harks back to the performance art roots of my early shows in the 00s - a rawness and abstract freedom but a desire to shock and thrill."
"It’s been ten years since my last solo show with Soho Theatre and twenty since my first show here, so it’s incredibly special to be making a piece with them again. I hope to entertain and affect in equal measure and above all have a ton of fun along the way."
Jonny Woo: Suburbia will run from 14-15 January at Soho Theatre
