Brussels Pride confirmed for 18 May
The date for Brussels Pride 2024 has been confirmed – Saturday, 18 May is when you need to have your rainbow flags flying in the capital of Europe.
The theme for this year’s event is “Safe Everyday Everywhere” – advocating for a society where everyone can feel free and safe.
Brussels is traditionally the first of the major LGBTQ Pride events in Europe each year. Over 250,000 people are expected to take part – parading through the streets and enjoying the outdoor parties.
The parade begins and ends at the event’s main stage in the centre of the city, and the Rainbow Village downtown – where most of the queer bars are located – becomes a street party that is impossible to resist.
While the parade on 18 May is the focal point of Pride celebrations in Brussels, activity kicks off from 8 May and there’s a whole series of events to showcase the contribution of the city’s queer community. Major buildings in Brussels will be awash in rainbow colours, and even the iconic Manneken-Pis statue will be donned in a Pride costume to get into the spirit of things.
